Greener pastures for Munns

Our iconic lawn business has taken on a new look and refreshed approach after more than 67 years building a successful gardening brand. 

A new-look brand and new products will hit the shelves in Spring 2015, in time for the peak of lawn-care and gardening season.

General Manager, Dallas Munn, says the new brand is a reflection of the trend in gardening, where young and old people alike are seeking honest, environmentally-friendly and contemporary products.

“Customers also want gardening care products that actually work and are made for the harsh and varied Australian conditions,” says Dallas.

“My grandfather, Brian Munn, started the business in 1948 and he was always about delivering one of the most refined lawn seed products on the market that suited our environment. 

“In fact, Munns came about because the lawn in front of my grandfather’s bakery was so perfect.  So it was clear from very early on that his skills were better suited to lawn than baking bread!”

Introducing the new Munns Betta Bloom range. Each contains a balanced supply of major nutrients with added trace elements for healthy and sustained growth in your garden.

Brian's daughter Julie Munn who started working for Munns in 1961, took over from her Dad in 1982 as Managing Director when he retired.  Julie made the decision to take Munns National in 1990 and after over 50 successful years, late last year Julie handed the reins over to daughters, Alexandra and Dallas Munn.

It was during this latest transition that the Munn family embarked on refreshing the brand and its products.

One of the key strategies that sets Munns apart from other lawn care products is the rigorous seed testing it undertakes through Rutgers University in the United States of America.

“Munns lawn seeds are among the best in the world and our purity always exceeds the industry standards,” says Dallas.

“So it made sense that our branding also projected a clean, pure look.

“Plus, our lawn seeds have a minimum germination of 85% and a maximum germination of 99.9% so we know we can offer some of the best products in the lawn care category.

“We’re very proud of what our grandfather started and we will continue to steer the business with his beliefs in mind,” says Dallas.

Munns is an Adelaide-based, family owned company that distributes lawn and garden care products throughout Australia.

Julie Munn now spends her time travelling around Australia training Munns customers and sharing her wealth of knowledge.
